Pensamentos Aleatorios aka as Random Thoughts

Se ha coisa que me irrita e chegar ao escritorio, abrir o Outlook e nao ter nenhum email para ler. Irrita me pah!

Can please someone explain me what is going on?

We just felt an earthquake here. Small one, but frightening enough for most of the skyscrapers and tall buildings to be evacuated.

Rumors say that a big one has happened in Iran (Update: 6.1 Earthquake confirmed in Iran)

I opened CNN.com and they mention an earthquake in China to have happened early morning (during the night in China).

I hate this feeling? Especially when it is already the second one I feel in one year. Damn. Its getting closer.

One of my songs...

Some songs, some lyrics, some tunes just seem to stick to you, no matter how much time passes by... For me, this song is one of those songs... No words to describe it.

Dona desses traioeiros
Sonhos, sempre verdadeiros
Oh Dona desses animais
Dona de seus ideais
Pelas ruas onde andas
Onde mandas todos ns
Somos sempre mensageiros
Esperando tua voz
Teus desejos, uma ordem
Nada nunca, nunca no
Por que tens essa certeza
Dentro do teu corao
Tan, tan, tan, batem na porta
No precisa ver quem
Pra sentir a impacincia
Do teu pulso de mulher
Um olhar me atira cama
Um beijo me faz amar
No levanto, no me escondo
Porque sei que s minha
Dona...
Dona desses traioeiros...
Sonhos sempre verdadeiros...
No h pedras em teu caminho
No h ondas no teu mar
No h vento ou tempestade
Que te impeam de voar
Entre a cobra e o passarinho
Entre a pomba e o gavio
Ou teu dio ou teu carinho
Nos carregam pela mo
 a moa da cantiga
A mulher da criao
Umas vezes nossa amiga
Outras nossa perdio
O poder que nos levanta
A fora que nos faz cair
Qual de ns ainda no sabe
Que isso tudo te faz
Dona, Dona...

Random Happyness...

As I lay on my bed, with my laptop on my lap, I cant help smiling.

It has been a great/crazy weekend, I am"talking" over Messenger with the best friend someone can have, parents coming tomorrow and a flat full with positive energy once again. I can hear Alisha and Alex in the living room and it sounds so good. Nadine is smiling again. And hopefully even greater news on the way.

I am happy.

And that reminds me I havent feel happy in a while.

Its gonna rain!

According to BBC Weather it is going to rain in Dubai this Saturday...

Lets see if the weather man (in this case, site) is right.

If he his I might have to go shopping and buy a raincoat. Just in case the deluge is coming.

I dont know, but for me the wind outside is already a bad sign.

You know you are working in Dubai when...

You spend your Thursday afternoon watching "Tennis Legends Rock Dubai" with Bjorn Borg and others, in the VIP Stand.
You attend the Islamic Financial Awards on Monday at the Hyatt, have Tuesday's lunch at the Marriott and skip the Nokia N Series Launch party at the Ritz because you only left the Fairmont Hotel meeting you had with customers at 11pm.

Life is tough. :)

Istanbul Durma*!!

Istanbul... a glimpse of home.

DSC03901

Everyone who talked to me in the past days is probably sick of hearing me.. but it is true. Istanbul reminds me SO much of Lisbon and home! The hills, the people, the places, the river... It is as if Lisbon and Istanbul are twin cities, with their remarkable similarities and, of course, their individual unique characteristics.

I loved every second of it and I definetely want to go back and explore more of Turkey!

It all started with 7 hours waiting at the airport for the plane to take off and 4 hours journey but developed like this...

Highlights:
- Colt weather and rain!!! (yes, it is an highlight, if you are coming from no rain no cold Dubai!!)
- Raky, Raky, Raky;
- Cuban Bar and dancing salsa with random people
- Doner, Doner, Doner

IMGP0881
There is nothing better than a "good old" beef Doner after hard clubing!

- Amazing cruise trip on the Bosphorus River

Turkish Coffee on the Bosphorus

Turkish coffee time! :) (I swear, if they just painted the bridge red and called the river Tagus.. I would be in Lisbon!)

- Topkapi Palace

- Tea, tea tea

DSC03945
Being a tea lover I was in heaven, drinking tea all the time! This was one of my favourite spots.. I could definetely see myseld spending "reading afternoons" here! In the photo you can see the coolest travelmates, Mat and Alisha!!

- Meeting my favorite Turkish guy again! And partying hard the Turkish night with him, his lovely sister and her boyfriend! You guys are great!!!

I, Ali and Alisha and the sunset in Istanbul

IMGP0872
Enjoying the Turkish Night

- Learning our first turkish words: tamam, ofendam!! ofendam! and numbers up to 6!!! "ichtana tchai, please!" :) :)
- Baklova (amazing sweet that Alisha and I ate all the time)
- Backgammon afternoon, listening to the rain outside, playing with the cat

- Mosques, lots of mosques and their minarets, creating a magic horizon over Istanbul
- Raky Bottle before leaving the hotel
- Turkish live music at a random bar and belly dancing at random turkish disco.
- Screaming "Dubai words" to get into a disco for more than 30 min (random, SO random)
- Hague Sophia and the Blue Mosque (beautiful, just beautiful!!).

DSC03953

Hague Sophia - It was built as a church and then transformed into a mosque. Inside you can see Christ and Virgin Mary mosaics face to face to Islamic inscriptions and ornaments. Simply magical.

DSC03948
The Blue Mosque. Just beautiful and peaceful. Although you can only see 4 in the picture, this mosque has actually 6 minarets! Impressive hein?

DSC03962
One of the beauties of the Blue Mosque and Hague Sophie is the fact that they are facing eachother and are really close to eachother. This photo of the Blue Mosque was taken from one of the windows, inside Hague Sophie.

- Opening the hotel room window and thinking I was in Lisbon every morning.
- People on the street, walking arm in arm. Smiling.
- Being toured around Turkish bars and discos by these Kirgystan girl and Istanbul guy who barely knew us and barely spoke english. Incredibly nice people!
- Kids line fishing over the Bosphorus

DSC03938
Its amazing how everyone just loves to come and spend their time fishing on the Bosphorus.. Reminded me of when my brother, father and I used to do it too...

Ovearll, the entire trip was an Highlight. And certainly one of my best times since I left Portugal.. Cant wait for the next travel!

*Durma means Non Stop in Turkish. The funny thing is that it means "to sleep" in portuguese.

6 months...

Camel Sign

It seems that 6 months ago, around 9.30 pm, I was arriving to Dubai.

It passed SO fast!

Today I should be writing about objectives, about expectations, about sum ups and conclusions. About feelings, success and failures.

But not today. I am too tired.
