Teenager memories (1)

For a long time Break Point was my favourite movie.. Not for Keanu or Patrick but for everything, for freendom, for nature, for surf, for the sea, for adrenaline...

I liked it so much that I taped on videocassete (yes, there was a time when there would be movies going on on tv and you would tape it... no, it is not the same as downloading a movie from kazaa)...

I did the same with all the movies of the Indiana Jones trilogy. And I saw them over and over again.

And I loved "Murder she wrote" and House in the prairy and a serie called Angel (I think), also with Michael Landon. I cried when he died. And I also watched Bewitched and simply adored when she would twinkle her nose and Mission Possible and I also couldnt loose any McGyver episode.

For some time I watched A Team but lost my interest when we started to have a brazilian version of it (Oi Cara de Pau, tudo bom?). I would also spend the afternoon watching "Agora Escolha" a program to which you could call and choose the following series or cartoon. I spend hours trying to reach their operators and I managed it twice!! I felt it was like the happiest day of my life.. And I also watched ET and Jurassic Park and Simpsons and "O Homem da Carabina", I dont recall its name in english but it was a black and white serie of this guy with his big riffle, and of course, black and white Fugitive... Also watched Family Ties and Alf.. and just loved it all! And, of course Black Rider.. "Kit, meet me at the entrance.. Yes Michael". Who could ever resist?

Today, I dont have a TV.

DHL takes you the movies

The other day, the promotion I launched was on the newspaper...
You can see and read the article above... But let me tell you that it is a "little bit" written in arabic. :)

Random Thoughts in Dubai

Reflexions...

3 months have passed. Half my traineeship is done. Performance evaluation and future steps meeting whith my manager next week. Doing "Baba de Camelo" dessert for dinner. Appropriate hein?

Thinking Frustration and dreams and challenges and life itself. Our path is not easy and we found ouserlves trapped in old dreams who correspond to different realities.. Read Bea's blog and couldnt stop thinking about this...

Is it too late to find our mission in life? Are we on the right track or have we made past decisions that are now leading us on the wrong way?

I dont have the answer. But I do think often about the questions..

As a woman, as a professional as a dreamer, I dont know what I wanna be and where I wanna be. Also I dont know with whom I wanna be. But isnt it better this way? With no attachments, with no strict guidelines to follow?

Maybe, but it makes you wonder if at 24 your life shouldnt be something else.

I have wrote about this in the past and it seems I will continue writing about this in the future. Because my life, our life is made about choices and luck, and dreams and ourselves and others and "antagonismos". And that is what it makes it all worth it. Because, on the other hand i also have it all figured out...

However, there is still a long way to till i get there...

Independence Day

It seems tomorrow is celebration day for India and all Indians.
Independence Day! :)

After laughing for a while and asking if it is to celebrate independence from Portuguese I found myself saying yes to the "do you want to wear an indian female dress tomorrow?"..

Basically all the indians in the office tomorrow will come with their Saris and kurtas and "something camise" which is what I will be wearing.

Cant wait for tomorrow morning. Photos will be available soon! :)

It is all about Signs...

What is all about this signs thing??

Since I am in Dubai that almost 10 people I got to know asked me for my sign on their 3rd or 4th sentence (the 3 first sentences being: where I am from, how long will i stay and if I am here with my family (when family normally means husband:).

Anyway.. what is it all about?? Why is this so important?
And, Do I act in a way that immediately gives my sign away? Because normally their answer to my reply is.. "I thought so!"

Does that mean I am a such a true genuine Gemini that it shows on my face and my behaviour so obviously? Maybe, since, taking into account Sheila's report (I miss you Sheilinha!!) i am 3 times gemini. Sun sign, lunar sign and ascendent (whatever it means)!!

Anyway, today the "I thought so" was followed by "Of course, that is why you are always smiling to everyone! "

Now I am a smiling person, hein?? Who would figure that out? My mother would probably disagree! :)

For years that I have apologized my mood swings with the fact that I am Gemini and that, therefore, I have double personality..But I actually never realized that being a Gemini also makes me smile to everyone.

Ahha, funny how we (society) always find rational reasons (or not) to label people.

Hi, my name is Ana and I am a Gemini. That is why I smile to people. Nice to meet you. No, I am not here with my family.. My husband has left me and he took our 2 kids with him. ahahha :):)

Jebel Ali Weekend

Having a weekend that only lasts for one day and a half is definitely what costs me the most in this country.. Plus the idea of working on saturdays and sundays (cause our days off are thursdays and fridays) is still not well accepted by my system.. I found myself thinking that Mondays are still the 1st day of the week and we are already in the middle of it...

Anyway, 2 weeks ago I decided to take 2 days off (Friday & Saturday) and enjoy the beach.. Ended up staying at Jebel Ali Beach Hotel (40 min away from Dubai center), for a wkd of beach and relax.. and DVDs watch! :)

Settling down list

For the past months that I have a mental checklist that somehow tells me that until it is finished I am not completely settled down... However, today it is finished! Almost 3 months after I got here.

And that includes my cute new laptop! Yes it was expensive, but it is just what I wanted :) :)

I will now be able to post much more frequently and to upload pictures! More than that I will be able to use skype and msn totalk to all the ones that I miss!

Cheers to the start of a new stage!!
